Sculpture and Drawing
Although primarily a figurative sculptor, I have produced an extensive, diverse body of work in both drawing and sculpture. The artwork ranges from intimate portraits to room sized installations including outdoor public sculpture. Social commentary and implied use of materials are integral to interpreting my work. The human figure in its various forms provides the basis of my visual expression.
People fascinate me as do the masks or façades we all wear, whether consciously or unconsciously. They act as a veneer, veil, cover or window-dressing; an outward appearance we use daily for acceptance or protection. I explore this theme in sculptural relief by fracturing, abstracting or reconfiguring facial features.
