Nicole Beck has just returned from the on site completion and installation of Fiat Lux in Sycamore Park, Davis, CA, stainless steel, custom-laminated dichroic and prismatic glass on a custom plinth, 12’H x 10’W x 3’D.
The sculpture is in memoriam of 20-yr Karim Abou Najm who was tragically murdered just blocks from his home on a very busy bicycle path that he traveled daily. The parents, Nadine Yeyha and Majdi Abou Najm contacted Nicole directly to collaborate closely with them and the City of Davis Public Art Department to create a site-specific work that would spread his amazing light and joy back into a grieving community in need of healing from the serial stabbings of Karim and two others.
