Art Springs Into Focus at the Cornelia Arts Building May Open House
See work by talented local artist and artisans at one of the largest artist studio building on Chicago’s North side. On Friday May 9th, from 6 – 10 pm, and on Saturday May 10th, from 11 am – 3 pm, the Cornelia Arts Building at 1800 West Cornelia Avenue, Chicago opens its doors to the public. Visit two floors of over two dozen working art studios to shop art and crafts directly from their makers.
Over 100 artists and artisans work in the building, including painters, sculptors, photog- raphers, ceramic artists, print-makers, jewelers, designers, and much more. The front lobby guest artist is Beatriz E. Ledesma, showcasing her ink, graphite and mixed media drawing series “Bird’s Song Series.” With one-of-a-kind artwork and special artisan- made gifts, the event offers something for the whole family to enjoy.
The art center was established in 1986 in a former ice-house, and has fostered creativi- ty in Chicago ever since. The Cornelia Arts Building is located at 1800 West Cornelia, at the border of three distinct Chicago Neighborhoods; Roscoe Village, Lakeview, and North Center. Located close to public transportation and only two blocks south of the Addison Brown Line CTA stop, the building has a free parking lot and street parking nearby. Events are free and open to the public.
