These gouache paintings are about visual and perceptual games. At the core of my work is a balancing of subject matter, composition, color, technique, and scale — often in the same piece. For me, the creative process is one of purposeful play. Each piece is realized intuitively; the first idea for a picture growing and evolving until fully formed as each element dictates. The miniature size of each work encourages close inspection, purposefully designed to create an intimate and personal viewing experience. What appears tiny on the expanse of a wall inevitably enlarges our notions of space and perspective.
