These works are created by using a palette knife repeatedly over a surface of thick acrylic paint. In Debra’s art and design work, she is greatly influenced by patterns. This ranges from repetition of shapes and marks in her paintings to surface designs. Pattern and repetition can be seen as decorative, but for Debra, it is a means towards discussing power, group mentality, crowd intelligence, and fitting in.
