Richard Halstead’s career has evolved as much through his interest in people as his skills in figure painting and drawing. He specializes in portraiture because he enjoys the process of depicting a real person, believing that a good portrait deeply explores circumstances and character while suggesting hidden dimensions that remain small mysteries to ourselves and others.
He also teaches portrait and figure drawing and painting in his Evanston studio.
