THE LIGHT OF DAY ART PROJECT

THE LIGHT OF DAY ART PROJECT

Curators Gone Rogue (Susan Aurinko and Susan Blackman) have created a dynamic art show, and we invite you to apply to this juried fair. “The Light of Day Art Project” refers to artworks that have been out of the public eye for a long time for various reasons. They are taking up valuable storage space in your studios and must go. Why haven’t you shown the work? Because, for example, the art piece is too big, the art piece is too small, the art piece is the last in a series, the art piece was created years ago and got lost on your shelves, the art piece represents a style you no longer work in, and/or just because.

WHEN: Saturday, November 8, 2025 (at the beginning of the holiday buying season!)

WHERE: CAPE Chicago 1010 W. 35th Street https://capechicago.org/

WHO: Artists we (and you!) know and love.

TIME: 10 am -12 pm = Collectors Preview/Early Access (ticket required). 12-5 pm = General Admission (Suggested donation to CAPE).

November 6-7 – Load-in and hang walls.
November 8 – Load-out: Hopefully, you will sell everything. But if not, you must de-install

and remove it after the show closes on Saturday.

Applying for this Fair requires that the work you bring to sell is at least 50% off your normal price. The pieces must be at least 5 years old and not a “test strip,” which many artists have piles of, nor reproductions/posters. You sell your own work and collect 100% of your sales. The only expenses you will incur are the cost of your space and the time you spend promoting this event. Artists who dedicate time and effort to promote their work are the most likely to sell!

We have space for only 58 artists for this show. We offer various options for you to showcase your work. Below are a few pictures of the space. It can accommodate up to 250 people at any time for an event.

Securing your display space is the only fee that the artist will be charged for this project.

We will request a donation at the door, with all the proceeds going towards CAPE. We will have food and drinks for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds going towards CAPE as well. www.capechicago.org It’sawonderfulorganization.

We are curating a group of artists who will visually complement each other and bring a lot of “cachet” to this event. We believe this project can be wildly successful for you, but it will require all of us to work together to achieve this success. We will create social media materials with timelines to promote and market the show; we ask that you share them online and with your mailing lists. Consider the scenario where 58 artists contact 1000 individuals with their email lists while engaging across various social platforms. That’s a lot of eyes on the event, right? So, when you agree to be a part of this, you also agree to “hawk” this project loud and clear.

Please contact Susan Blackman with any questions you may have. susan@artadvisoryltd.com

As curators, we’ve created this opportunity to support your success, and we’re excited to see what you propose to offer for sale. To apply, please send your proposal to both Susan(s) at the emails below, along with 3-5 high-resolution JPGs of the type of work you wish to sell at the fair, and your website and social media handles. Also, please pick the size display you would like. Please submit your application by August 15, 2025. We will send you a contract and an invoice to pay via Square if you are accepted.
