Illinois Art-In-Architecture Project Winner Jason Messinger

Jason Messinger’s art installation was chosen to fill the walls of Lake County’s Lakeshore Student Center in Waukegan. The art installations will span three floors, with each floor featuring a different theme and design. Messinger drew inspiration from the Waukegan community, most notably the Latinx population. Follow the link to “A POP! of Color in the Lakeshore halls“, a feature of the College of Lake County, for more information on the project.

The artist was chosen for the project through the Illinois Art-In-Architecture program which funds art purchased to enhance state-funded construction or renovation projects. Since its inception, the Art-in-Architecture program has purchased or commissioned nearly 1000 works of art by Illinois artists. This collection represents the best of Illinois art in many media including ceramics, glasswork, printmaking, sculpture, fiber, drawing, photography, and painting.
